PARQUE LOS FUNDADORES

Is another of the geographical and historical referents of the city. It was built in the year 1963. Its design is a map of the city. In the central part of the park is the monument to the founders: the trunk and the ax, sculpture of the master Roberto Henao Buriticá that was inaugurated in the fiftieth anniversary of the city, October 14, 1939. On the south side there is a monument to the main Founder Jesús María Ocampo Toro, Tigrero, and his wife María Arsenia Cardona Buitrago, erected in 1998 by the sculptor Orlando Londoño. It is a mound, like a large stone on top of which there are some tiger heads, which reflects an ancient tomb, where are the remains of the couple.
